What Meetily does
The community edition captures meeting audio, performs live transcription, identifies speakers, and generates summaries. Its project documentation describes support for local speech models such as Parakeet or Whisper and local summarization through Ollama. It can also connect to optional external AI providers when a user chooses that configuration.
Privacy advantages—and responsibilities
Processing locally reduces the need to send recordings to a hosted meeting bot, but privacy still depends on configuration. Confirm which transcription and summary provider is selected, encrypt the computer, apply operating-system updates, restrict access to exported notes, and define a retention policy.
Always follow applicable recording and consent laws. Inform participants before recording or transcribing a meeting, even when the processing happens locally.
